Pumice (also known as: Hyuga Stone) is a volcanic pumice stone, distributed in the Hyuga City area in western Japan. Like other pumice stones, it is very dry. It is slightly acidic and suitable for plant species that do not like to repot or do not need to repot. In addition to orchids, bonsai, ornamental palms, cacti, and aquatic plants, it is also suitable as a cultivation soil for general potted flowers and mountain grasses.

It is an additive soil, generally mixed with Akadama soil and Kanuma soil for better results. Hyuga soil is mainly used for the cultivation and seedling raising of succulents and orchids.
